Autumn arrives with a
crunch and a chill
and a color change
that creeps up cautiously
before you knew that Summer left.
Sunshine is swapped for
soft sweaters and cider
so suddenly you shiver with surprise,
uncertain of saying goodbye to Summer.
But then you see a sunset
that Summer never saw
and it stays with you all season
it warms you
and it warns you
that nothing ever stays.
Like a train through the station
Autumn soon starts to pass
and freeze into frosts.
Nature’s song is melancholy.
The leaves fall.
The Fall leaves.
